Henry J. Bodzin was born in Detroit, Michigan on March 3, 1921 to parents Morris and Lena Bodzin. He was a graduate of Northern High School and went on to attend Wayne State University. Henry entered military service on February 23, 1943. where he earned the rank of Second Lieutenant in US Army Air Force 486th Bombardment Group and was awarded The Purple Heart and The Air Medal With One Oak Leaf Cluster. Bodzin became a casualty over Leipzig, Germany and died on April 8, 1945.
 
Post 414 was chartered on October 22, 1973. It was a traditional Orthodox post honoring Lt. Bodzin's courageous service and commitment to the Torah and Halachic Judaism.
