2021 Activities

The 125th Anniversary of Jewish War Veterans of the USA was March 15th. Oakland County, Michigan sent congratulations; see it here. State of Michigan sent a special tribute; see it here. JWV National put together a brief video history of our 125 years; see it here.

Two JWV members spoke to Hillel Day School classes during their Memorial Day program. Nick Israel (Iraq/Afghanistan) spoke to Gesher (5th/6th Grade). See & hear his talk here. Jerry Manchel (WWII) spoke to Yachad (7th/8th). See & hear his talk here.

Sunday, May 30, JWV Michigan Posts and Auxiliary gathered in the Veterans section of Machpeleh Cemetery for a Memorial service. Rabbi Michael Moskowitz led the service. Watch it at this link.

2020 Activities

During the Novel Coronavirus lockdown of 2020, our Memorial Day service at Machpelah Cemetery on May 25th was limited in size and live-streamed. Rabbi Michael Moskowitz of Temple Shir Shalom led us. See the video here.

Department of Michigan and Auxiliary met by video conference on July 19. Carolyn Normandin of the ADL gave a very interesting presentation on anti-semitism. See the video of the entire meeting here.

Congregation Shaarey Zedek held their 2020 Veterans Shabbat virtually. Speakers included Brigadier General Don Shenk USA (Ret), Captain Aaron Brumbaugh, Captain Don Wagner, and Sgt. Bill Glogower. See the video here.
