Eli Levin was born in Toronto, Canada in 1888 immigrating to the United States where he graduated from the University of Chicago School of Medicine.
He served in World War I with the 5th Division as a Lieutenant and Surgeon at a base hospital in Vichy, France.
Levin spent 20 years living in Detroit where he was active in the Rosenwald Post of the Veterans of Foreign Wars as well as the Jewish War Veterans.
He died in January 1940. JWV Post 230 was installed in July 1941 to honor his memory.
