A native of Poland, Lawrence Herman Jones was an active charter member of Post 135, the first Jewish War Veterans post in Detroit. In 1936, he died suddenly at 43 years old. He was the first post member to perish outside of wartime. To remember his dedication, Post 190, the 2nd Detroit Post, was named in his honor in 1938.
