Vietnam veteran Dennis Greenwald was born on November 23, 1948 and hailed from Southfield, MI.
He graduated from Detroit Cooley High School in 1966.
Dennis enlisted for duty and began his tour of Vietnam on June 10, 1967 as a paratrooper with the 503rd Infantry 2nd Battalion.
He earned the rank of Pfc. - Private First Class - and served in the valley of Dak To in the province of Kon Tum until his death on November 20, 1967.
Dennis' war citation indicates he was firing on the enemy when members of his unit were hit and became casualties.
He dragged several soldiers to safety then returned to his position.
He continued to place heavy and accurate fire against the enemy and was then struck and became wounded.
Reports indicated that he died at the hands of the enemy while missing; yet his body was later recovered.
Greenwald was awarded the Bronze Star with V [valor].
